Basmati is a variety of long grain rice is famous for its delicate flavour and aroma. It has been growing in India since the early 19th century! There are numerous varieties of this aromatic food grain, namely, traditional basmati, 1121, Pusa, 1509 etc. Which are made in raw, parboiled(sella) and steamed forms. It is how much it lengthens upon cooking (which is more than twice its size in raw form), its aroma and sweet taste that’s made Basmati a delicacy. And why won’t it be, given that the Basmati crop in India are nurtured by the snowfed rivers on the base of the Himalayan range. It’s no wonder then that Basmati is called the king of all rice in the world.
